FAQS

How often does ‘The Hand’ update INN? I want more news!

Full episodes of INN are released every month and usually contain at least 4 of the top stories of the month, plus sport with Joe ‘Snake-Dog’ Sockic and Jane Bunion with the weather. ‘The Hand’ will promote INN FlashBACK episodes weekly via social media so you can catch up on past stories you might have missed or forgotten about!

So – what exactly is INN News? Who makes it? Who is it for? Can I join?

INNformation News Network (INN) is a parody of mainstream news programs all over the world. It is written, performed and produced entirely by ‘The Hand’ – a one-handed operation with no outside affiliations or sponsors. INN researches and reports the news in a ‘soft satire’ of mainstream news programs. The best way to join our one hand INN team is to become an accredited producer of an upcoming episode by donating to us at INNformationNews.com or starting a subscription. You can also help promote the show by purchasing merchandise from our INN Store.

INN producer? That sounds cool! How much should I donate to get my producer credit and help ‘The Hand’ make new episodes of INN?

Any donation over $20 (AUD) will earn you a producer title which will appear in the end credits of our full episodes each month. Donations between $20-$100 (AUD) earn the title of Associate Producer (Bronze Tier), while donations over $100.00 (AUD) earn an Executive Producer (Silver Tier) credit. Any INN producer who accrues $500.00 (AUD) or more will join ‘The INNformed’ – a Gold Tier elite group of producers who earn a permanent place in our credits and become part of our INN family, forever seated at the right hand of ‘The Hand’ and able to contribute directly to our show and  influence the stories we cover.

Is INN a parody of the news, or an actual, like, REAL news program?

BOTH! ‘The Hand’ thoroughly researches every story he writes and performs through the socks of INN. Source information is available through our website and via links in the credits section of every full episode (*Some source credits may be missing at time of print and are being uploaded as ‘The Hand’ finalises INN’s launch. Thank you for your patience. Please contact TheHand@INNformationNews.com if you have any issues regarding fair use.)

Why do you keep saying ‘INNformation’? INNformation News Network sounds like a pretty stupid name to me…

Well, that’s because you’re either not INNformation yet, or you are an idiot. INNformation News Network’s name refers to the mainstream news media’s tendency to report on certain stories ‘in formation’ with each other – which happens to be ‘in formation’ with the agendas of their shared corporate and political sponsors. Mainstream news outlets profit from their huge corporate and political partnerships and advertising, and in return, these sponsors either directly or indirectly influence messages to are prioritised for audiences.

INN likes to make fun of this, and Brian, Sandy and the gand often refer to being ‘INNformation’ when referring to issues that have more than one way of being looked at. INN has the freedom to report on any issue from any angle that they think is fair, because ‘The Hand’ ONLY accepts donations from people who enjoy our show and want to help produce more content in the future.

A friend told me that INNformation News Network is made by crazy, right-wing, conspiracy theorists who might be Nazis. Is this true?

No. However it is possible that your friend may be the idiot from the previous question.

Recently, many people have become uncomfortable that ‘freedom of speech’ tends to include ideas that aren’t INNformation with their own. But ‘The Hand’ is absolutely NONE of the things you mentioned! ‘The Hand’ has thoughts about the world – like everyone does – and wants to ENCOURAGE people to share their thoughts freely, whether they are right, wrong or in-between. Learning happens from insight AND from ignorance, but rarely from censorship.

Of course, not everything is for everyone. If you’d prefer to get the news from some other sock puppet on TV, go for it… (There seem to be plenty to choose from!)

Hey! You’re using audio/visual material from other news shows. Why, you little…!

As a news analysis program, INN carefully selects only small, often incidental portions of external audio/visual material, under fair use exemptions in accordance with the Copyright Amendment Act (2006), to report the news, parody mainstream media and to promote freedom to comment, satirise and criticise in our increasingly polarised society. ‘The Hand’ attempts to keep source watermarks visible and/or include source information either on-screen, or in the linked source credits at the end of every full episode of INN, or by viewing any story’s page on INNformationNews.com. (*Some source credits may be missing at time of print and are being uploaded as ‘The Hand’ finalises INN’s launch. Thank you for your patience. Please contact TheHand@INNformationNews.com if you have any issues regarding fair use.)
