Joe Rogan ‘Shares Opinions’ on his own Podcast
The so-called ‘cookers’ are at it again, spreading wild misinformation on social media and podcasts like Vegemite on buttered toast
BRIAN: Well the so-called ‘cookers’ are at it again, spreading wild misinformation on social media and podcasts like Vegemite on buttered toast, weaponsing conversations, this time about the new Victorian Agricultural Amendment Bill. Discussions about increased government control over farming and food production, quickly turned to fear the Victorian Government were planning a ban on growing food in private backyard gardens. Why people would think their Government could misuse power to overreach into people’s lives is anyone’s guess, but the misinformation continued to spread, even making it onto The Joe Rogan Podcast, where the host used a full minute of his 3 and a quarter hour episode to bizarrely talk about the bill like he was some kind of comedian. While Rogan did say the story might be fake, the irreversible damage had obviously already been done, mainstream media relentlessly replaying the moment while commenting on how dangerous it would be if people saw it.

SANDY: The Guardian and other legacy newspapers are still busy trying to clean up Rogan’s mess, by publishing transcripts of his conversations to make it easier for people to find the misinformation and then tell others not to read it. We’re still waiting to hear from anyone who has read the 177-page Agricultural Amendment Bill – because I won’t be doing it, that’s for sure
